✦ Understanding Remedial Therapy

Why Some Children Struggle — And How to Help

In Dubai's fast-paced academic environment, children who learn differently can quickly fall behind. The right support at the right time makes all the difference.

✦ The Basics

More Than Extra Tutoring

Remedial therapy is a structured, evidence-based intervention that goes beyond simply revisiting school material. It targets the underlying cognitive processes — phonological awareness, visual-motor integration, working memory, and processing speed — that make learning difficult for some children.

Whether your child has been identified with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, or simply isn't keeping up despite effort, a tailored remedial program can rebuild their academic foundation.

✦ Our Process

A Clear Path Forward for Your Child

Every child's journey begins with a comprehensive learning assessment to identify exactly where the breakdown is happening. From there, we design a personalized intervention plan with measurable milestones — so you always know how your child is progressing.

We work collaboratively with parents and, where helpful, with your child's school to ensure consistency across environments. Our approach is warm, patient, and designed to make your child feel capable, not corrected.

✦ Methods We Use

Evidence-Based Techniques That Work

We combine internationally recognized programs with clinical expertise to address each child's specific learning challenges.

Orton-Gillingham Approach

A highly structured, sequential, multi-sensory method for teaching reading and spelling. Children see, hear, touch, and write letters and sounds simultaneously — strengthening neural pathways for literacy.

Dyslexia · Phonics · Decoding

Multi-Sensory Learning

Engaging multiple senses — visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile — makes abstract concepts concrete. Sand writing, letter tiles, sky-writing, and color-coding turn frustrating tasks into manageable ones.

Retention · Engagement · Comprehension

Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CRA)

For children struggling with mathematics, this method moves from physical objects (blocks, counters) to visual diagrams, and finally to abstract number problems — ensuring genuine understanding rather than rote memorization.

Dyscalculia · Number Sense · Problem Solving

Handwriting & Written Expression Support

For children with dysgraphia or fine-motor difficulties, we use structured programs to improve letter formation, spacing, and writing fluency, alongside strategies for organizing thoughts before writing.

Dysgraphia · Fine Motor · Composition

Executive Function Training

Many children with learning difficulties also struggle with planning, organization, and time management. We teach practical strategies — checklists, visual schedules, self-monitoring tools — that transfer to the classroom.

Organization · Focus · Task Completion

Comprehension & Study Skills

Reading words is one thing; understanding meaning is another. We teach active reading strategies — visualization, questioning, summarizing — and study techniques that help children retain and apply what they learn.

Reading Comprehension · Exam Preparation

Signs Your Child May Need Support

These are not signs of laziness or low intelligence. They indicate that your child's brain processes information differently — and that's where targeted help makes a real difference.

Slow or labored reading, frequent guessing at words
Persistent spelling errors despite practice
Illegible handwriting or avoidance of writing tasks
Difficulty remembering math facts or understanding word problems
Needs instructions repeated multiple times
Frustration, anxiety, or low confidence around schoolwork
Trouble sequencing ideas or telling a story in order
Loses place while reading or skips lines frequently
✦ Why Parents Choose Mind Inside

A Trusted Partner in Your Child's Learning Journey

We understand the worry that comes with watching your child struggle. Our team creates a safe, encouraging space where children feel supported — not singled out.

Comprehensive Assessment First

We never start without understanding the full picture. Our initial assessment identifies your child's specific strengths and challenges, ensuring the intervention plan targets the right areas from day one.

Truly Individualized Plans

No two children learn the same way. Your child's plan is built around their unique profile — not a generic program. We adjust pacing, methods, and goals as they progress.

Parent Partnership

You're not kept in the dark. We provide regular progress updates, share strategies you can use at home, and welcome your input at every stage of the process.

School Collaboration

With your permission, we communicate with your child's teachers and learning support staff to ensure strategies are reinforced consistently across home and school environments.

Child-Friendly Environment

Our sessions are designed to feel positive and engaging — not like more school. Children build a trusting relationship with their therapist, which is essential for meaningful progress.

Confidential & Respectful

Every child's learning profile and progress is kept strictly confidential. We celebrate growth privately and ensure your family's privacy is always respected.

✦ Parent Experiences

Families Who Saw the Difference

Hearing from other parents who've been through a similar journey can be the nudge you need to take the first step.

"My son was in Grade 3 and couldn't read a full page without tears. Within three months of sessions at Mind Inside, he was reading bedtime stories to his little sister. The transformation in his confidence was incredible."

"My daughter hated math and would freeze during exams. The CRA method they used here helped her actually understand numbers instead of just memorizing steps. She even said math is her favorite subject now — I never thought I'd hear those words."

Questions Parents Often Ask

Practical answers to help you decide the right next step for your child.

Book an Assessment

Tutoring reteaches what's covered in the classroom. Remedial therapy addresses the underlying skills that make learning difficult — such as phonological processing, visual-motor integration, or working memory. It uses specialized, research-backed methods so your child can eventually learn independently without extra support.

Absolutely. Programs like Orton-Gillingham — which we use at Mind Inside — were specifically developed for children with dyslexia. They use a structured, multi-sensory approach to build reading and spelling skills systematically. Research consistently shows this is the most effective intervention for dyslexia.

Early intervention — ideally around ages 5–7 — yields the strongest outcomes because the brain is most adaptable during this period. However, older children and teenagers absolutely can and do make significant progress. It's never too late to start, but earlier is better.

No. While a formal diagnosis (such as from an educational psychologist's report) can be helpful for school accommodations, it is not required to begin remedial therapy at our center. We conduct our own thorough initial assessment to identify your child's specific needs and design an appropriate plan.

Most parents notice a positive shift in their child's confidence and attitude within the first 4–6 sessions. Measurable academic improvement typically becomes visible around 8–16 sessions, depending on the severity of the difficulty and session consistency. We provide regular progress reports so you can track every step.

We understand this concern deeply. Our sessions are framed positively — as "learning coaching" or "brain training" — and take place in a warm, non-clinical environment. Children typically look forward to coming because the sessions are engaging, supportive, and free of the pressure they experience in school.
